Town meetings and local elections are upon us.

Do you know who is running in local elections? Do you know what issues are being debated at town meeting? If not, it is not too late to find out. Go to your town web page and see when elections are being held and look at the town meeting warrant. Do your research. Call or email candidates and ask them what their plans are to improve water quality, preserve land, and help your town deal with climate change impacts. Don’t settle for broad generalities. Ask for specifics and think about how realistic the answers you are given sound. In local elections you can reach and speak to candidates so do your own due diligence.

A lot of what will happen in your town over the next year will be decided in the next few weeks. We all have an obligation to do our part as members of a broader community. Do your part. Become an informed voter and exercise your right, and obligation, to participate.

Go to town meeting and go vote. Do it!
