Volunteers continue to prove to be indispensable when it comes to scientific studies. The volume of data collected by volunteers is extremely valuable to larger research studies. APCC collaborates with other organizations, such as pond associations and land trusts, whose members participate in herring monitoring and cyanobacteria monitoring programs.

We provide the training to the volunteers and the data they collect assists our scientists and resource managers in gaining a better understanding of cyanobacteria in our freshwater ponds and the status of the Cape’s herring population. If you have volunteered your time in either of these programs, thank you! We couldn’t do it without you. If you are interested in getting involved please volunteer to be a herring monitor.
