Over the past 48 years, the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) has established a solid record of protecting the Cape through advocacy, education, stewardship and restoration.

The Cape Cod Times calls APCC “the region’s preeminent environmental organization” in preserving, protecting and enhancing the natural resources of Cape Cod.

APCC is planning for the next 50 years of preserving Cape Cod’s precious natural heritage and tackling the challenges of climate change, diminished water quality, waste management and sprawl. APCC recently created the Cape Cod Restoration Coordination Center to help communities effectively restore natural resources and landscapes. Our goal is to be more effective, more visible and more engaging. Our new home in Dennis Village will help us reach this goal.

APCC – The Next 50

For many Cape residents and visitors, APCC is their ever-reliable guardian, ensuring that someone is always on the alert to preserve and protect the Cape’s natural environment and unique landscapes. We are now expanding our toolbox to be more effective in our mission and more visible to the Cape community and beyond. Through a generous grant from the Prospect Hill Foundation as a down payment, APCC has acquired a permanent headquarters on Route 6A in Dennis.

Our goal is to transform our new home into a state-of-the-art environmental education and advocacy center.

We have a plan

482 Main Street (Rt. 6A) Dennis - The property consists of a 19th century saltbox main building, an early 20th century post and beam barn and a small work shed on 1.38 acres of land. The acquisition allows APCC to expand its reach within the community and to also demonstrate sustainable living.

A - Education Center The barn will be modernized into an education center. It will make an ideal meeting and workshop space. Modernization will include leading edge renewable energy technologies.

B - Living Laboratory Landscape The property will serve as a living laboratory and a showcase for modern native landscape design that integrates plantings, ecological land care practices and stormwater management, transforming the land into a haven for pollinators and other wildlife. As part of our educational outreach, we want to show professionals, contractors and homeowners how stormwater management and landscape design can work to promote a sustainable, aesthetically pleasing environment.

C - Advocacy Center The main house, our Advocacy Center, is in excellent condition and will provide adequate space for present and future office needs. It will also serve as APCC’s Restoration Coordination Center, established to enhance stewardship and help communities build capacity to restore water quality and natural infrastructure.

When updated and fully functional, APCC’s new home will make us more visible, allow us to expand our educational programs, locate us at the geographic center of our membership, add to the village vitality of Dennis and even reduce our monthly operational costs. Our living laboratory approach will make APCC a Cape destination for people to enjoy. Please support our efforts to achieve this vision for the future.
